indian independence day

15th August 1947 – commemorating India’s independence from the British rule and its birth as a Sovereign nation.

11th August 2012 – the day I share my celebrations of 65 years of independence.

Pause to spare a few minutes to remember all those freedom fighters who fought for our freedom and helped us to reach where we are today.

This day brings back many fond memories. Waking up at 6am to go to school to fly kites, sing patriotic songs, watch the many talented stars of our school perform and then stand in attention and sing the national anthem while the youngest child in school hoisted the flag. Teachers come wearing sarees and salwar suits sporting the tricolor and students are seen in their uniforms with hair accessories/ bracelets/ face paint in the tricolor.

This year, I have experimented with my nails! Noticing how the women in the Indian Olympic contingent had all got the flag painted on their nails, made me want to make a design that was symbolic yet not a copy of what is out there.

So here is presenting you with my Independence Day nails.

Indian tricolour represented by FACES Mysterious (Green), White O White (White), Tangerine (Orange) and ESSIE Mesmerize (Blue)

How did you celebrate your Independence Day?
